Freebie Friday!
Friday is one of my favorite days--for many reasons!! Head over to The Motherload to find a list of this weeks freebies. My mailbox has become something to look forward to since I have found Amy. She does a great job of finding some great freebies each week!
Have a blessed day,
Jess

Frugal Living--Making Handsoap go farther
This is something I found online many months ago. I have been "making" my own handsoap, and stretching a dollar quite far.
You need a FOAMY handsoap pump and regular liquid handsoap. I bought a large refill bottle. I wish I would have recorded when I bought it so I would know how long it lasted us.
The easy instructions are to just add a small amount of soap into the dispenser (about 1/2 inch of soap or so), then fill the rest of the bottle with water. Shake until all the soap is dispersed. You now have foamy soap and you used very little of the liquid soap for one bottle.
We LOVE the foamy soap in our house. It is much easier for the little ones to wash off their hands. Since we are all washing our hands many times around here, this really does save our family money!
Let me know what you think! Have a great day!
Blessings,
Jess♥

Hello!
Hi! I'm Jess and this is my new blog home. I had a blog over at homestead blogger, but due to some recent changes in their format, I needed to change. I loved homestead blogger, but found it difficult to do the things with my blog that I wanted to. So time for a change, a new blog, and a new perspective on life. This blog will be a little different than my homestead blog, but I still want to keep it simple.
I live in the upper midwest with my husband of 17 years and our 5 children. Our children range in age from 1 to 13. I stay at home and my husband works in an agricultural business. Life is always interesting in our home. We are learning to trust in God wholeheartedly for everything in our life. I thought we already did this, but boy was I wrong. More often than not, I was putting the cart before the horse and paying the price later for it. I want my life and the lives of my family to represent our thankfulness for what Christ sacrificed for us. We are learning to live frugally not only because we want to (or have to), but that is what God demands of us. We're also learning to trust in Him in other area's of our life-big and small. It isn't always easy, but we are being refined into the children God want us to be. It is definately an adventure!
The purpose of my blog is two-fold. I want a journal of our life and times. I want to journal what is going on in our lives and the lives of our kids. I don't want to forget any of these times with our family. I know they are precious and fleeting. The second purpose of my blog is to help others. We are learning so many things in our journey through life and I wanted to share the things we've learned with others. How do you think I learned so much of it??
I hope you will come back often and this blog will be a blessing to you.
Blessings,
Jess

FOR TODAY
Outside my window… Beautiful!! High of 73 and sunny!
I am thinking... about some financial plans
I am thankful for... my family (as always!) and good friends
From the kitchen... spaghetti and corn bread
I am wearing... tan capri’s and blue shirt
I am creating... not much right now
I am going... to get more focused and organized
I am reading... just Bible right now
I am hoping... for answered prayers
I am hearing... a neighbor running a lawn mower, and baby babble
Around the house... cleaning bathrooms today and laundry that has gotten backed up
One of my favorite things... time with my hubby
A few plans for the rest of the week: school started yesterday, volleyball starts today for our oldest, getting our front door installed on Saturday
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Our youngest daughter wanted to start school yesterday also! Unfortunately, she is too young yet!
